The hairs on the stems and leaves of stinging nettles deliver a vicious sting making them the scourge of the bare legged walker or unwary child. Stinging nettles grow everywhere in Britain so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find them. Wear a pair of thick gloves and pick the freshest leaves at the top of the young plants.
There are a multitude of uses for stinging nettles. Make beer with stinging nettles, use them in a hair rinse or (best of all) bake green flecked Nettle Scones.
